Lufthansa charges hefty amount for One-way ticket always than Two-way travel


Question from me is why does Lufthansa charges hefty amount (not even small difference but its huge) for One-way ticket when compared to Two-way ticket?


Today, I tried to book ticket to travel to India around end of June (Frankfurt to Bengaluru).

To my surprise, I saw a huge difference in the price. I have seen other airline carriers who charge more than the half price of two-way ticket. But Lufthansa charges more than 4 times which is crazy.


What I did was searched flight for same date (23^rd June) keeping search option as return journey and next search with only onward journey. Results were shocking for me.

One-way flight tickets costs 2424.36 € for the journey on 23rd June. 

Two-way flight tickets costs me 699.84 € (both onward & return included) out of which Frankfurt to Bengaluru flight costs 393.36 € and rest of the amount is for return journey. Screenshot can be referred.

Isn’t this insane and Lufthansa is fooling people? Looks like this is how they make huge profits. Screenshot can be referred. 
With this money, I can do 3 two-way journeys and still have some money left instead of going for a one-way journey. Thats hell lot of money.


As the world is struggling to fight against Corona wave, almost all airline carriers have cancelled their journeys. At the moment situation is unclear but people are doing their part of social distancing and trying to cut the chain as much as possible.


Governments are doing a lot to overcome the situation. They have put lockdown in most of the places.  Hats off to the health workers, Government officials, Security personals, Consulates etc… who are working hard to ensure that the inconveniences caused are minimal.



Coming to my situation. My mother has come from India to Germany to see her new born grand-daughter and currently spending time with us. She holds valid VISA and will be going back on 24^th April but due to lock-down, she will not be able to enter India as the passenger flights are not allowed until 3^rd May. In my opinion, this will even further extend. DGCA has already informed the airline carriers not to open start the bookings from 4^th May onwards so this means until situation is clear, there will be no flights. I did check because needed VISA to be extended for which revised flight booking to later date was expected from the supporting staff.

There are hundreds of thousand videos circulating on social media be it Facebook or Tiktok or other channels barring the age, ethnicity, language, countries & culture. One among the most viral songs is captioned as “Poothumbi Kullamani”. This has become a sensation in Kerala and one could understand that Poothumbi means Dragonfly in Malayalam.

Just do a search on any search engine with the word “Poothumbi”, you will see long list of videos which are very popular where people are seen to be dancing or grotesquely mining for this song. 

This pulled me to make some research to know more about this viral song.

There are some interesting facts,

1.      It is not a Malayalam song but a Bengali song.

2.      How was this interpreted and claimed as a Malayalam song?

a.       In Malayalam, Poothumbi means Dragonfly so many people are under impression that song originated from Kerala.

b.      One twitter user explained how it means in Malayalam,

Thum- you

Be- stay

Kullu- jealousy

Mani- money

Meaning: Its nothing but where ever u go and stay; never get jealous of there money...

c.       Another twitter user wrote as below,

I'm staying in kolkata once I played that song and my friend said it's a Bengal folk song... Same tune was used in recent Malayalam film kumbalangi nights 'THELLELE' Song

What I understood is that because the pronunciation is a Malayalam word, people must have considered it to be a corrupt version of ‘Thellele’ song.

3.      What is reality then?

This Bengali song has sentence “Prodhom Biye Korlam Ami” which is being understood as Poothumbi Kullamani.

People with Bengali dialect usually do not pronounce “r” but keep it silent. This means Prodhom will become Podhom. Prodhom Biye will sound same as Poothumbi and hence it totally changed the perception.

Someone can help me to get complete lyrics and its meaning. A part of lyrics which I was able to grasp.

1.      This song is not a real folk song.

It is a parody song created based on a famous Bengali folk song “Bondhu tin din tor bari te gelam” which was song by a Bangladeshi single Runa Laila.

Original folk song has wordings “Ami tin tin te biye korlam, lasting hoilo na” which literally means that “I had married three times, but none of them lasted” But in the parody song they have made wordplay. But whatever be the outcome of words, this parody song has become a sensation among youtubers and Tiktokers.

Poster of Kannada Horror movie released on 29th November 2013. On the right side I have modified the image with former Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni's picture from one of the famous diving still taken which suits the movie poster when modified.

The modified picture looks similar and very hilarious.

Coming to the movie part, it was written & directed by KS Ashoka who was a new-comer as a director into Sandalwood. 

It is a plot developed based on a trekking tragedy happened in Karnataka + inspiration taken from the Hollywood movie “The Blair Witch Project”.

Trailer became viral on Facebook, YouTube & by word-of-mouth publicity.

Movie was made with a budget of 3 million Rupees by Swarnalatha productions and box office collection was 50 million Rupees.

It was later re-made in Hindi & Telugu.
